Traditional predictive analytics has it's limits because it doesn't address the uncertainty in big data. Uncertainty can take many forms, it can be missing values, incorrect values or just junk. Uncertainty also comes from the possibility of rare events that aren’t in the historical data. Built From the Ground Up for Big Data

Typically most data scientists will use Python and ‘R’ to analyse big data, but these languages require lots of time and resources to analyse large data sets. The whole process requires manually intensive data science and ends up giving far from optimal decision outcomes. This happens because those languages weren’t designed for big data, which means that they don’t scale easily.


Oscar was built from the ground up to be a platform for big data, this is why it runs on top of Spark – a superfast framework for processing big data, that can run up to 100 times faster than Hadoop. What’s more Oscar’s processes are coded in Scala, a programming language that does scale to big data. By running on top of a designed for big data architecture Oscar provides much faster answers to business queries and can provide those answers no matter how big your business grows.
